It was a delight to celebrate International Women’s Day with fellow GIACC Board Members at an event organized by the Indian Consulate General, Atlanta at Ashiana Banquet Hall, Global Mall, Norcross. The event commenced with a beautiful rendition of the American and US Anthems by a specially abled student. The Indian Consul General, Mr. Ramesh Babu Laksmanan, gave introductory remarks, followed by 3 speakers. The first speaker was Priti Bandi, PhD, Scientific Director, American Cancer Society, an Atlanta resident and public health leader. Dr. Bandi leads national research examining cancer risk factors and why millions of eligible Americans are not getting screened early, when the disease is often far more treatable.. Dr. Priti Bandi has been named to the prestigious TIME100 Health list — a rare national honor.
The second speaker was Judge Neera Bahl, Appellate Judge, GA State Board of Workers Compensation, who shared her inspiring US immigrant story from “Baby sitter to Bench” . The third speaker was Dr. Vanita Boswell, an award-winning storyteller and fundraiser with over 25 years of marketing and fundraising experience. In 2014, Dr. Boswell founded The VALO Group (VALO), a strategic consultancy that helps people and brands articulate their stories and raise critical resources dedicated to social impact.
