Anita currently serves as Board Member of the GA District Export Council (GADEC). In February 2024, Anita was appointed as Member of GADEC which was adjudged the previous year, as the BEST in the Nation by the US Department of Commerce! All appointments are made by the Secretary of Commerce based on recommendations from local Executive Secretaries and the U.S. Field Office. GADEC is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services to help GA companies develop international business. Anita also currently serves as Chair of the Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (GIACC), having served previously in the same position, as well as in the capacity of President from 2018 -2021. In this capacity she was invited to serve on the Georgia Chamber Global Talent Initiative Task Force to influence immigration reform in Georgia by growing the state’s talent base and increasing economic prosperity. Her leadership in GIACC has nurtured the growing partnership and close collaboration between the Consulate General India in Atlanta and the Chamber on all matters relating to trade, investment and business between India and Georgia. She also serves as an Honorary Legal Advisor to the Indian Consulate General of Atlanta. She is a member of the Advisory Council, Dean Rusk International Law Center, University of Georgia School of Law, Athens, GA. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves on the Audio Visual Committee of AILA ‘s Global Migration Section (GMS). Previously, Anita served on the publications and conference committees of AILA ‘s Global Migration Section (GMS). She also served as Chair of the Consulate Liaison Committee of AILA GMS for the year 2020-21. Anita served as Chair of the Steering Committee of AILA GMS for 2022-23 and the previous year as Vice Chair, having served in executive leadership of GMS from 2021 -2024. Anita has written articles and presented on various aspects of US immigration law at conferences, business seminars and other fora.

When living in India, Anita served on the boards of the YWCA of India and Delhi. In these roles, she was actively involved in programs related to community development, legal literacy and environmental issues pertaining to Indian women; and advocated for the passage of laws for the protection of women against domestic violence and workplace gender harassment. Her involvement and contributions in this space continue. She served on the 2020 Women on Boards Leadership Committee of the Atlanta Conversation on Board Diversity. She was appointed as Board Member, Women Empowerment Committee of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), West India Council 2021 – 22.
