The 250th Anniversary of the United States of America

Happy Birthday America! On July 9, 2026, GIACC partnered with the Indian Consulate General, Atlanta to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America and recognize the significant contributions of the Atlanta Indian-American business community to our nation’s economic, cultural and civic landscape. Guests of Honor were GA Congressman Dr. Rich McCormick and GA State Representative Soo Hong, the first woman of South Korean heritage to be elected to the GA House. Both spoke about the rich contributions of immigrants to America, and the achievements of Indian Americans as highly educated immigrants, with a median annual income almost double that of the national average. Consul General Ramesh Babu highlighted the close collaboration between the Consulate and GIACC in bringing trade and investment into Georgia. A short video presentation by Dr. Amitabh Sharma, President of the India Heritage Center, showcasing 11,000 years of Indian civilization, history culture, though ancient, medieval and modern times, concluded the formal segment of the evening. This was followed by delectable appetizers, drinks and cake!
